Limestone

Mr Wemyss has said that we can use some of the limestone blocks that currently live under the school, waiting for someone to bring them to life.
THAT IS US!
Mr Carter (and his muscles!) brought some blocks into our class this week so that we can look at the stone and see how easy, or hard it will be to carve. It is HEAVY and CRUMBLY.
We also sent an email to Mr Longley, a famous Nelson sculpture artist to see if he would be interested in helping us with our project. He says he'd love to! Yay!
Things are taking shape....

This week we "pulled apart" the task and looked at the key words.
We listed them on the wall and discussed them. Now we understand the key words and what our Inquiry task is.
Then we made a list of all the people who could help us, and the places we could go for more information.
Our next step is to interview our community about what they think is special to our area and our school.

It is the Nelson Arts Festival, and there are 4 people creating sculptures at Founder's Park. They work 12 - 4 pm in the weekends. It is amazing work and worth looking at. Maybe they can offer us some advice too.........

Welcome to our new blog!

We have created this blog for a special project that Room 14 is undertaking this term.
We will keep this blog updated so you can follow our progress as the term goes on.
It is going to be a huge project, so we thought it deserved its own blog!

This is the RICH TASK for our new Inquiry topic, called SMART ART:

"Design and create a piece of permanent outdoor art for Clifton Terrace School, that reflects the school and our community"

Look out Michaelangelo, here comes Room 14!!
